Replicas of Nina, Pinta Arriving April 28

Scale replicas of Columbus' famous ships will be available for tours at Regatta Pointe Marina.

PALMETTO, FL – Ahoy, mateys! Full-size replicas of Christopher Columbus’ famous ships, the Nina and the Pinta, will dock at Regatta Pointe Marina on their tour of the Gulf Coast.

The historically accurate ships are floating museums and tributes to the voyage that charted the course of Western society. Both ships will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 28 through Saturday, April 30. Regatta Pointe Marina is located at 1005 Riverside Drive in Palmetto.

Visitors will have an opportunity to see history come to life and gain a perspective of what life was like for Columbus and his crew on their voyage to the “New World.” Guests will be able to appreciate the craftsmanship of the boat builders from the 16th Century.

The ships are crewed by the Columbus Foundation of the British Virgin Islands. General admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors 60 and older, $6 for ages 5-16 (not in a school group), and age 4 and younger are free. Group and school tours are available with a minimum of 15 people at $5 per person.
