SCF Communications & Marketing Sweeps Educational Ad Awards

SCF Communications and Marketing department swept the 36th annual Educational Advertising Awards competition by winning nine awards.

State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota’s (SCF) Communications and Marketing (CAM) department swept the 36th annual Educational Advertising Awards competition by winning nine awards for all the designs that were submitted. This is the largest educational advertising awards competition in the country, and the committee received over 2,000 entries from more than 1,000 colleges, universities and secondary schools from all 50 states and many foreign countries. This is the fourth consecutive year the CAM department has received high recognition for their design, written and digital works.

SCF received one gold, three silver and five merit awards, receiving national recognition for each staff design that was submitted.

The awards were for the total recruitment package, total advertising campaign, total fundraising/development campaign, integrated marketing campaign, student viewbook, direct mail, COVID response materials, outdoor, and publication/external categories. Winning entries were the Fall 2020 Admissions Express campaign, Fall 2020 Flex Start Registration postcard, Life Changing Letters fundraising campaign, Go Live With SCF Online advertising, Summer-B Term Horoscope postcard, Spring 2021 Registration mailing, Virtual Hug postcard, Library & Learning Center Exterior Window Panels, and Spring 2020 Commemorative Graduation Program.

CAM staff involved in the winning projects include Jamie Smith, director; Ronda Hewitt, assistant director; Nate March, marketing manager; Mace Thirtle, lead graphic designer; Mitchell Hoeft, graphic designer; Amarin Cannon, digital communications coordinator; Amy Mathew, creative content coordinator; Justin Duplain, webmaster; Marci Shantz, former assistant director; Sarah Sands, former marketing manager; and Jim Dela, former communications and production coordinator.

“It’s rewarding to see so much of our work from 2020 recognized on a national level,” said Smith. “The winning projects reflect our ability to adapt our efforts to meet the SCF community’s needs during times of change.”

The competition’s judges consisted of a national panel of higher education marketers, advertising creative directors, marketing, and advertising professionals and the editorial board of Higher Education Marketing Report, the nation’s leading marketing publication for higher education marketing professionals.
