SCF Opens Performing Arts Classes to the Community

SCF offers music and theatre classes, private lessons and the opportunity to participate in music ensembles.

State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota’s (SCF) Lifelong Learning and Workforce Development department offers music and theatre classes, private lessons and the opportunity to participate in music ensembles to regional community members without the need to register with the college or pursue a degree in the performing arts majors. This option waives the requirement to submit college applications and transcripts and opens the classes to students with varying levels of experience.

SCF offers a comprehensive list of performing arts programs.

  • Private lessons for voice and instruments, including the piano, keyboard and organ, are 30 or 60 minutes each and can be scheduled seven at a time.
  • Theatre classes include “Introduction to Dance” and “Script Analysis.”
  • A seat with music ensembles including Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, Bradenton Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Band, Guitar Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combo and Music Theatre Ensemble.

To register for a class, visit SCF.edu/CCDenroll, click on the Performing Arts category from the left-hand navigation menu and select the appropriate subcategory. First-time registrants will be required to create a new profile. Returning students will be able to use previously created sign-in credentials.
