SCF Selects Students for Presidential String Quartet
SCF announced the lineup of performers for its prestigious Presidential String Quartet.
State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) announced the lineup of performers for its prestigious Presidential String Quartet. SCF students Lucy Crank (viola), Aaron D’Zurilla (violin), Amely Wackerbauer (violin) and Nicholas Welch (cello) will play together as the members of the Presidential String Quartet, an honor for which they receive full tuition scholarships.
- Amely Wackerbauer has performed as a violinist with the Sarasota Youth Orchestra, her high school orchestra and the Bradenton Symphony Orchestra.
- Aaron D’Zurilla, a music major at SCF and violinist, is a returning member of the Presidential String Quartet. Recently, he represented SCF at the statewide Student Artist Competition for soloists, where he won the strings category. In his first year at SCF, he was recognized with the Most Outstanding Freshman Student award from the music staff at SCF. He also works for the Bradenton Christian School as an assistant strings teacher, where he instructs students in grades K-12.
- Lucy Crank, a nursing student at SCF, started playing the viola in sixth grade. She has been actively involved as a performer and instructor with the Sarasota Youth Orchestra. Prior to enrolling at SCF, she was a member of her high school orchestra and quartet.
- Nicholas Welch began his music career as a piano player but ultimately found his passion with the cello. He has performed with the Bradenton Symphony Orchestra and the All-County Orchestra, among others.
