Street Closed Due to Washout
The City of Bradenton has closed 18th Avenue West between Freedom Village and 68th Street West to repair a street washout from the recent heavy rainfall.

The city's preliminary investigation suggested that a joint on a buried 54-inch storm drain pipe that crosses under the 6700 block of 18th St W may have failed.  Â
This resulted in the undermining of the road base and washout of an approximately 15 feet by 20 foot portion of 18th Avenue West, effectively making the road impassible.Â
The City of Bradenton has barricaded the affected road segment, established detours and dispatched repair crews. The city expects that the 6700 block of 18th Avenue West will remain closed from one to two weeks to allow repairs to the drainage system as well as the roadway. The block does not have driveway or cross-street connections, so no residences or businesses will lose access during the repair operations.
