'Take Stock in Children' Welcomes Used Devices

'Take Stock in Children' is a program serving low-income, at-risk students in 6th – 12th grade in the School District of Manatee County.

From Take Stock in Children of Manatee County, Inc.:

Take Stock in Children of Manatee County is accepting previously used, in good condition, smart phones and devices (iPads, tablets) to be utilized by students. Take Stock in Children of Manatee County is a powerful and proven mentoring and college scholarship program serving low-income, at-risk students in 6th – 12th grade in the School District of Manatee County.

Many of the Take Stock scholars do not have the ability to communicate through a mobile device on a consistent basis. Through donation of a smart phone, these students will have the ability to access email, iMessage and other communication platforms in a WIFI enabled area including their schools for free.

“Communication is important for success. Providing our students the ability to communicate more consistently with their mentors, Take Stock staff and other support systems will empower children.” says Diana Dill, Take Stock’s Executive Director. “Think of a time when your phone wasn’t available for communication and how frustrated you were. These students face this scenario on a regular basis. Thank you in advance for this generous donation to help make a difference in the lives of our students.”

Currently, major service providers are also offering incentive devices such as a tablet when you upgrade or purchase a new phone. This is another great opportunity to be able to provide a communication tool for a student in need.

Phones and devices may be dropped off at the Professional Support Center, 2501 63rd Ave E., Bradenton during regular business hours. All devices will be cleared of any previous data and account information and new SIM cards will be issued.
