Troopers Continue Search for Car in Hit and Run

Troopers say a maroon Chevy Cruze with possible front-end damage was involved in the crash.

The Florida Highway Patrol continues to search for the driver of a Chevrolet Cruze involved in a hit and run crash that killed Erika Leigh Fortner, 42, of Venice.

The FHP released a photo showing the kind of vehicle they are looking for in connection with the Oct. 30 crash at U.S. 41 and Montgomery Ave. Troopers believe a 2011 or 2012 Chevy Cruze was traveling northbound on U.S. 41 as Fortner was crossing U.S. 41 from east to west. The car struck Fortner and drove off.

The investigation is ongoing. The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for
a 2011-2012, Maroon Chevy Cruze with damage to the driver's front panel or driver's door area and missing the driver's outside rearview mirror.
