Wells Fargo Bank Robber Made Bomb Threat, Suspect Sought: Sheriff

BRADENTON, FL — Investigators are looking for a man who robbed a Wells Fargo bank in Bradenton Saturday morning after making a bomb threat, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Around 11:35 a.m., the bank robber entered the bank, which is located at 6285 14th Street, and waited in the teller line. He appeared to be speaking with someone on his cell phone.

When he reached the teller, he handed them a note demanded money in different denominations of cash. The not also said a bomb would detonate if they didn’t comply, the sheriff’s office said.

The teller gave the man an undisclosed amount of cash and was able to trip the silent alarm. He ran out of the bank and employees locked the door until deputies arrived.

The suspect is a middle-aged man, possibly in his 50s, and about 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a skinny build and blonde hair. He was wearing a burgundy shirt, jeans and a face mask at the time of the robbery, the sheriff’s office said.
