Job Openings, Taxes and Why Doctors Love Bradenton

1.) The Doctor Is In: The Bradenton-Sarasota-North Port region just made a new Top 5 list. This one is for the best place for doctors to live. Why? Money. "The average salary for doctors in this area is $228,190, and with a cost of living of 92, earnings can be stretched well."

3.) Share Your Talents – or Not: It's open mic night at Arts and Eats, 1114 12th St. W. The fun starts at 6 p.m. Show off your talents, or just show up to have dinner.Â
4.) Back to School Is Sooner Than You Think: On Aug. 14, at Lakewood Ranch High School, Â new students and incoming freshmen will be able to pick up their unofficial schedules and attend an orientation that details the upcoming school year.Â
5.) Attention Tax Hawks: The Bradenton City Council is expected to set the tentative millage rate (property tax rate) for 2013-14 at a special meeting scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 31. The meeting will be in the City Hall Council Chambers, 101 Old Main St., and is open to the public.
