Woman Charged in Crash with EMS

A woman's failure to yield to an emergency vehicle resulted in her suffering from minor injuries.

An elderly woman suffered minor injuries when she turned in front of an EMS truck in emergency mode, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Mildred Leggett Freemon, 79, of Palmetto, was driving a 2011 Dodge Nitro along 17th Street West in Palmetto when a fully marked EMS ambulance responding to an emergency came up behind her with fully activated lights and sirens, according to the report.

When Freemon did not pull to the side of the road, the EMS truck attempted to pass her, however, before the driver could complete the maneuver she turned in front of him in order to make a left on Frist Avenue, the report states.
