Woman Shot in Face Found on Side of the Road

A Manatee County Sheriff's Office deputy found an 18-year-old woman lying in the road around 4:30 a.m. Sunday at 57th Avenue East and 11th Street. She had been shot in the face. 

The sheriff's office said EMS rushed the victim to Blake Medical Center where she is expected to recover.

According to the sheriff's office, the woman was found after a deputy on patrol heard a gunshot while on patrol Sunday morning.

Driving in the area, the deputy located the woman on the side of the road. 

The area has been searched for evidence and witnesses, the sheriff's office said.

Detectives are working to obtain suspect info and a motive.
