There are more than 500 species of shark, a number of which are very familiar to Floridians as Capt. Barry Moss of Harbour Isle can attest.
Moss recently captured a video of a whale shark spotted about 20 miles off Anna Maria Island. That's about the closest these giant sharks get to the shore.
Moss noted that this guy was longer than his 25-foot Grady White boat.
The largest confirmed whale shark, by the way, 41.5 feet long and weighed 47,000 pounds.
Trivia time: Besides, "You're gonna need a bigger boat," what's your favorite quote from "Jaws?"
