4 Juveniles Arrested Trying To Snatch Purses, Crashing Stolen SUV

Four juveniles are in custody after trying to snatch purses outside Citrus Park Mall and then crashing a stolen SUV while fleeing.

CITRUS PARK, FL — Four juveniles are in custody after trying to snatch purses outside Citrus Park Mall and then crashing a stolen SUV while fleeing from deputies.

Around 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office received two calls about attempted purse snatching outside the mall.

The four juveniles involved fled the scene in a white SUV. Mall security was able to give deputies a description of the SUV, and a deputy spotted it on Gunn Highway.

When the deputy activated his cruiser lights, the SUV sped up, heading east on Gunn Highway.

While trying to turn south on Nixon Road, the white SUV turned wide just as a silver SUV was turning west on Gunn HIghway, and the two vehicles collided.

The juveniles were taken into custody and transported to St. Joseph's Hospital as a precaution. The driver of the silver SUV was not injured.

Deputies later discovered that the white SUV had been stolen from Orange County.

All four juveniles were charged with attempted robbery and three were charged with grand theft auto.
