CarrollwoodStock Celebrates Local Music During Daylong Festival

The event returns for its second year at the Carrollwood Cultural Center.

TAMPA, FL – While the original Woodstock Music Festival celebrated peace and love, a local adaptation will celebrate local music, food and art.

CarrollwoodStock returns for its second year Saturday, March 4 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the grounds of the Carollwood Cultural Center, 4537 Lowell Road in Carrollwood Village.

The idea to host a daylong music festival came from the center’s executive director, Paul Berg. Aaron Washington, the CCC’s events coordinator, then helped to put a Carrollwood twist on Woodstock.

Despite the clever name, CarrollwoodStock does not celebrate music of the 1960s. Washington works all year to spotlight current local bands in the Tampa Bay area and Central Florida during the local festival.

“I believe in highlighting local talent,” he said. “I receive recordings throughout the year. I also seek out groups on various social media outlets and we put a call out for musicians.”

The scheduled lineup for CarrollwoodStock 2017 is:

The bands will start performing at noon and change every hour.

While there will be local food vendors and artists from the area, Washington said the day’s entertainment will focus on the music.

“Because we have various outdoor events and festivals throughout the year, our focus will CarrollwoodStock remains the music,” he said. “But we will have food vendors and trucks, spirits in the form of beer and wine, as well as some event-appropriate vendors and informational booths.”

Although the event is coming up soon, Washington said they are always looking for more vendors, sponsors and volunteers.
