Firefighters Battle 2-Alarm Fire At Carrollwood Storage Facility

Five units sustained fire damage and another 15 units had smoke damage.

CARROLLWOOD, FL —Residents are still cleaning up after a two-alarm fire broke out at Metro Self-Storage on Gunn Highway Sunday.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue responded to the fire around 7:50 p.m. and, minutes later, called for a second alarm due to the length of the storage building connecting 30 storage units under a common attic with smoke coming from beneath the eaves.

Crews knocked down the fire within 20 minutes, limiting actual fire damage to five units with smoke damage to 15 more. To prevent the further spread of flames, firefighters had to make forcible entry into more than 20 units to prevent the blaze from spreading.
