Hillsborough Sheriff Offers Amnesty For Drug Users Seeking Help
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is now offering an amnesty program for anyone voluntarily seeking drug addiction treatment.
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL -- The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is now offering an amnesty program for anyone voluntarily seeking drug addiction treatment.
Now, the Sheriff's Office will not charge people with possession of a controlled substance while those people are voluntarily seeking drug addiction treatment and/or disposing of the controlled substance.
In addition, a member of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office will transport the person voluntarily seeking treatment to the appropriate medical facility.

"We are never going to arrest our way out of the drug addiction problem," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "We know it is going to take prevention, education and treatment. This is part of helping our community become stronger."
Any individual wishing to seek addiction treatment and drop off their controlled substance can do so at any of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office locations:
