Justice For Jolie Announces New Meeting Spot

Supporters of a grassroots group that would see tougher animal cruelty laws enacted in Florida have a new place to meet.

The group, Justine for Jolie, is changing its meeting spot from the Jimmie B. Keel Regional Library to the North Tampa Library starting this month. The group was prompted to move due to ongoing construction at the Bearss Avenue library.

Justice for Jolie formed earlier this summer following a high profile animal cruelty case in Northwest Hillsborough County. The starvation death of the thoroughbred Jolie sparked supporters of the nonprofit Equestrian Inc. to found the group in hopes of enacting changes in local and state laws.

The Justice for Jolie group wants to bring “additional awareness to Florida’s lawmakers and law enforcement regarding improvements in the protection of all of Florida’s unwanted, abandoned, abused, neglected, starved and slaughter bound horses,” wrote Lauren Dudley, president of Equestrian Inc., in an email about the group’s mission.

The next meeting is this Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 6:30 p.m. at the 8916 North Blvd. library.
