Kids Invited To Splash At Northdale Park Oct. 30

There will be plenty of fun for kids of all ages when Hillsborough County opens a new splash pad Tuesday, Oct. 30, at 3 p.m.

NORTHDALE, FL -- There will be plenty of fun for kids of all ages when Hillsborough County opens a new splash pad Tuesday, Oct. 30, at 3 p.m. at Northdale Parks and Recreation Center, part of a significant upgrade of the popular park.

The splash pad has been designed to maximize the seating around the water feature and includes shade for those getting wet and those just watching. The zero-depth splash pad means children can splash and play safely because water never accumulates.

The improvements at the park, 15550 Spring Pine Drive, include new playground equipment and the county's first use of synthetic turf especially designed for playgrounds. Because of the park's projected high use, hours of operation will be extended from 10 a.m. to dusk seven days of week.

The splash pad's roots began two years ago when the Northdale O.W.L.S. (Older Wiser Livelier Seniors) and several neighborhood moms asked Hillsborough County Parks & Recreation for a new splash pad at Northdale Park. In July 2018, the Board of County Commissioners approved additional money for playground improvements.
