We all loved Edson bulbs but there used a lot of power even at the time it was invented which is why we build the start of our current electrical grid but the cost of electric which use to be cheap has been rising every year. This is why many people jumped to CFL (i.e. florescent bulbs). But while that save money no one really liked the light. And some even got headaches from it. Which is where LED comes in while there expensive and simply cannot replace all bulbs such a 300 watt reading lamp they are very good replacement’s for a lot of applications as they can have the same color as the old bulbs and they use less the 10 percent of the energy.
One thing thought you have to be careful is cheap substandard Chinese junk bulbs as quality bulb can last well over 10 year the cheap stuff that often just last a few years
