Marlow's Tavern announces Carrollwood leadership team
New restaurant hires Tampa natives as chef de cuisine and general manager
Tampa, Florida (Oct. 26, 2015) – Marlow’s Tavern, a new neighborhood restaurant located in Carrollwood’s Village Center, is pleased to announce Harold Phillips as its general manager and Scott McFadden as its chef de cuisine. Both Phillips and McFadden bring extensive hospitality industry experience to Marlow’s Tavern.
Phillips is a passionate restaurateur and consummate host, with a distinguished 35-year career in the hospitality industry and past success in Tampa. His leadership will help the team exceed guest expectations and create warm hospitality. He had a lead role in attracting, developing and supporting team members to help launch Marlow’s Tavern last month.

Prior to joining the Marlow’s Tavern team, Phillips consulted with restaurateurs and restaurant brands to create effective hiring processes, and ensure smooth openings and management transitions. He was part of Darden Restaurants’ original development team for Bahama Breeze and served as its director of operations during a 16-year period. His career began as director of operations for TGI Fridays, helping the brand to grow throughout the U.S. over 15 years.
“Harold has been an incredible leader and invaluable member of our team over the past year as we led up to opening,” said Marlow’s Tavern executive chef and co-founder John C. Metz. “We are thrilled to have such an experienced restaurateur and business leader launch our new venture and tavern in his hometown.”

McFadden joins Marlow’s Tavern as chef de cuisine with 25 years of hospitality experience. He works closely with the tavern’s other chefs and its line cooks to create incredible tavern fare and develop featured daily specials. He focuses on every detail from flavor profile to unique presentations to ensure all dishes follow Marlow’s Tavern’s chef-driven culinary program for a great guest experience. With responsibility for fresh seasonal ingredients used in every dish, he took a lead role in selecting local purveyors to help launch Marlow’s Tavern last month.
Before joining Marlow’s Tavern, McFadden worked in food management functions with Bahama Breeze for 16 years and provided food quality control, food costs analysis and inventory management. His restaurant career began with Steak and Ale, where he worked for nine years.
“Scott is an exceptional chef with a remarkable ability to lead the team while upholding quality. We’re excited and lucky to have a chef de cuisine with such a passion for fantastic food, great drinks and neighborhood hospitality,” said co-owner and partner Alan Palmieri.
Phillips and McFadden were instrumental in hiring and training 62 new Marlow’s Tavern employees. Marlow’s Tavern opened at 13134 N. Dale Mabry Hwy in Carrollwood on Sept. 29.
