Meeting Set For Proposed Park At Treatment Plant Site
Hillsborough County is retiring the water treatment plant in Carrollwood Village.

TAMPA, FL – Hillsborough County is interested in turning a 50-acre plot of land in the middle of Carrollwood Village into its newest public park.
Currently, the Dale Mabry Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant sits on the county-owned property at 13055 Delwood Road, which sits near the intersection of South Village Drive and West Village Drive.
Hillsborough County will host a public meeting about the project on Tuesday, April 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Carrollwood Cultural Center, 4537 Lowell Road. The meeting will be an open-house format. Attendees can ask questions and comment on the park proposal and on the proposed amenities.

According to the county’s website, the proposed park was requested by the Carrollwood Village community. Recommended amenities of the new park include a walking/jogging trail, playground, dog par, plant/butterfly garden and other miscellaneous park equipment and fixtures.
A conceptual design of the project will be exhibited at the meeting.

The county is retiring the 40-year-old treatment plant because of increasing operation and maintenance costs. The facility’s current workload will be transferred to the Northwest Regional Reclamation Facility off South Mobley Road.
