OPERATION LEND A HAND

Community Comes Together, Helping a Disabled Veteran
Tampa, FL: Country Place, Greater Northdale. Army SSG

Daniels’ calls for help answered by community.
Neighbors help Disabled Desert Storm veteran in a big way. Army SSG Daniels calls for help to save her family home of 20 years via the neighborhood sharing app., “Nextdoor”. The neighbors, along with former military, law enforcement, first responders and local businesses, answer in a big way. Retired Army SSG Daniels says, that she “…appreciated the community”, but, as Home Owners’ Association assessments and threats to take her family to court mount up, she has to let them know that she is trying to meet their demands. However, she doesn’t always have the money to get the job done.

To help the Army Veteran of Desert Storm, grandmother and cancer survivor bring her home up to standard, work is to be completed on her appliances, such as a new refrigerator, repairs to household systems, such as roofing and air conditioning, pressure cleaning, extensive excavation, mulching, ground cover, installation of gutters and sidewalk border trim. Additionally, water and food is generously donated by Jersey Mike’s for the volunteers.

Reminiscent of an episode of the former television program, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”, the Daniels’ place undergoes major transformation: supplies and expertise courtesy of Home Depot, a new GE Energy Star 25.3 Cu. Ft. refrigerator and volunteers from Famous Tate Appliances and Bedding; food and water from Jersey Mike’s. Gifts of comfort and support for the day’s volunteers and the Daniels family, are being provided in the way of groceries and manpower supplied by neighboring community members from Country Place, Carrollwood Meadows, Carrollwood Springs, Carrollwood Village, and Northdale on Saturday, September 8, 2018, starting at 8:00 a.m. until at least 12:00 noon.
