Police Still Searching for Leads in Fatal Hit-and-Run in Hillsborough County

A 40-year-old male pedestrian was killed by an unknown person driving what was believed to be a Dodge Dart.

Officers from the Florida Highway Patrol are still searching for any leads in a deadly hit-and-run that took place in Hillsborough County last month.

Forty-year-old Eric P. Flodin was killed while he was walking in the area of Dale Mabry Highway (State Road 597) and Medical Road when he was fatally struck by a car that sped away from the scene.

The accident happened at approximately 12:49 a.m. in the early hours of Saturday morning, March 26.

Witnesses saw what they believed to be an orange Dodge Dart or similar-looking vehicle leave the scene. Police provided the media with the above photo of an orange Dodge Dart, to provide an example.

The police report says the vehicle was traveling northbound on Dale Mabry Highway in the inside travel lane approaching Medical Drive. Flooding was traveling westbound across the northbound lanes of travel on State Road 597.

"[Flodin] entered the inside travel lane ahead of [the car]," police said in their report. As a result, the front of the car struck him."

Police say the car likely sustained damage from the impact--possibly in the front left of the car, near the headlight and turn signal, possibly including the driver's side mirror.
