Recycling Pickup On Hold In Some Areas Due To Driver Shortage
Waste Connections will temporarily stop recycling pickup because of a shortage of truck drivers due to the coronavirus.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — Hillsborough County Solid Waste has announced a temporary service interruption for customers served by Waste Connections because of a shortage of truck drivers due to the coronavirus.
To continue serving customers with twice-a-week garbage collection, Waste Connections will temporarily suspend the residential recycling collection service beginning Wednesday and will not service the blue recycling carts until further notice.
Waste Connections may also be delayed by a day on the collection of regular scheduled residential yard waste.

If customers experience a missed garbage collection this week, place the residential waste out for collection on the next scheduled service day.
These temporary service interruptions will solely impact residential solid waste customers served by Waste Connections.

Hillsborough County is divided into five residential solid waste collection districts. The county contracts with one of three companies to serve each district.
Waste Connections serves neighborhoods in Carrollwood, FishHawk Ranch, the University of South Florida area, Lutz and Citrus Park.

Residents who want to continue recycling are encouraged to drop off their recyclables at one of the county's Community Collection Centers, which are open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. To locate a collection center, click here.
Residents who do not wish to take recyclables to one of the county's drop-off recycling sites can store their recyclables until recycling services resume or dispose of the material in their garbage cart.
Residents can also dispose of their yard waste at one of the county's three yard waste processing sites, which are open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Click here for the locations. Residents must show valid identification with their address and a copy of their property tax bill showing the solid waste assessment charges.
