Sprouts Farmers Market Stakes Out 1st Florida Location: Report

Breaking: Sprouts Farmers Market is reportedly opening its first Florida location in the Carrollwood area.

TAMPA, FL — Tampa Bay area shoppers may soon have a new place to turn for organic produce and related groceries. Phoenix-based Sprouts Farmers Market has announced expansion plans for 2017 that include the chain’s first Florida location.

The new store is expected to open sometime in the first quarter of 2017, according to the Phoenix Business Journal. The Florida location Sprouts has its eyes on is at 15110 N. Dale Mabry Highway in the Carrollwood area, according to the publication.

Sprouts opened its first store in Arizona in 2002 and has since opened more than 200 stores across the country. Although not yet in the Florida market, the chain has 12 locations in the Atlanta area.

“Sprouts is the grocery shopping experience that makes healthy living easy and affordable,” the company’s website claims. “Our bright and cheery neighborhood grocery stores offer fresh, natural and organic foods and products at incredible prices – and in an approachable setting that feels like an old-fashioned farmers market.”

Other new locations are expected to open up in Georgia, North Carolina, California, Arizona and Kansas.

Sprouts' entry into the Florida market may give grocery retailers such as Publix and Whole Foods a little competition. The Whole Foods in Northdale has been a popular, and rather busy, destination for shoppers since it opened its doors in late 2012.
