“In the Tampa Bay area, one in seven adults and one in four children struggle with hunger,” said Thomas Mantz, executive director of Feeding Tampa Bay. "At Feeding Tampa Bay, we provide fresh, nutritious foods to the individuals and families we serve so that they can have healthier lives and better opportunities. We are thrilled to have Sprouts join our region and become a partner to us.”

Sprouts also plans to make a donation of up to $2,000 to Feeding Tampa Bay through its “Share to Care” campaign on Facebook. Another donation of $3,000 is planned to help the Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA with its “Veggie Van.” The van is used to distribute produce at a nominal feed to people living in urban neighborhoods.

Sprouts opened its first store in Arizona in 2002 and has since launched more than 200 stores across the country. Although not yet in the Florida market, the chain has 12 locations in the Atlanta area.

“Sprouts is the grocery shopping experience that makes healthy living easy and affordable,” the company’s website claims. “Our bright and cheery neighborhood grocery stores offer fresh, natural and organic foods and products at incredible prices – and in an approachable setting that feels like an old-fashioned farmers market.”
