"Women Who Take Joyful Ownership" winners announced

Metal sculpture of Harriet Tubman wins first place.

Awards for first, second and third place were given during the gallery opening for the “Women Who Take Joyful Ownership” art show at the Carrollwood Cultural Center on Friday, May 10. The show’s theme celebrates women and young ladies who have changed the world through their inner strength, perseverance, determination, courage, vulnerability, uniqueness and raw love.

Artist Arnold Swepson won first place for his metal sculpture of Harriet Tubman. Eva Maria Jones and Marga Dubbaudt won second and third place for their pieces “Gaia’s Dream” and “Malala,” respectively. Honorable mentions were awarded to Babette Arnold (“Joyful Inspirations of Me”), David Mack (“The Hidden Figures of NASA”) and Geraldine Novy (“5th Element”).

“Women Who Take Joyful Ownership” will remain on display in the Gallery at Carrollwood Cultural Center through May.
