2 Seriously Injured In Dramatic Crash On U.S. 19

A 36-year-old Port Richey man and a 58-year-old Tampa man were seriously injured Friday morning in a crash on U.S. 19.

LARGO, FL — A 36-year-old Port Richey man and a 58-year-old Tampa man were seriously injured Friday morning in a crash on U.S. 19.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 5:25 a.m., the Port Richey man was driving a car south on U.S. 19 just north of 126th Avenue North at a high rate of speed and overtook and collided with the rear of a car driven by the Tampa man.

Both vehicles flipped over in the travel lanes and shoulder of U.S. 19 and debris from the wreckage flew more than over 500 feet, causing the road to be shut down until 8:20 a.m.
