4-Pound Hairball to Be Added to Ripley’s Odditorium
A football-sized, four-pound hairball removed recently from a tiger will be part of the Ripley's Believe it or Not collection, which includes nearly 600 hairballs.
A giant, four-pound hairball removed from the stomach of a tiger last week is expected to be part of a display at a Ripley’s Odditorium, believe it or not.
Vernon Yates, founder of Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation, brought Ty, a 17-year-old tiger, in to have a hairball removed after the 400-pound big cat stopped eating on his own.
The surgery to remove the mass of hair and food was a success. But what would happen with the hairball after the surgery? Cue Ripley Entertainment.

"We're going to put it next to a man-eating tiger that had more than 50 jeweled bangles in its stomach," said Edward Meyer, Ripley's vice president of exhibits and archives, to The Huffington Post.
Meyer said the piece would likely be shown at the Ripley's Believe It or Not museum in Panama City Beach.

Ripley Entertainment has more than 600 giant hairballs in its collection. One of the largest is 10.5 pounds which came from a Michigan cow in 2004.
