Alabama? Clemson? Watch As Dolphin Makes Its Pick

A rescued dolphin at Clearwater Marine Aquarium has made his pick for the Clemson vs. Alabama national championship game.

CLEARWATER, FL — Clearwater Marine Aquarium’s dolphin Nick knows a thing or two about football. That’s according to aquarium officials who recently asked the plucky rescue critter to give his prediction for Monday night’s College Football National Championship game.

It seems Nick has a long track record of success in making sports predictions.

“He’s never missed a prediction,” the aquarium boasted on a video of Nick’s prognostication. While Nick is reportedly “a football analyst, an expert in all things football,” he also has a perfect track record in predicting basketball and baseball games, as well.

To help Nick make his predictions, the aquarium marked up two footballs – one with Alabama’s logo; the other with Clemson’s. Those balls were then tossed into the pool for Nick to retrieve his favorite.

The animals at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay have also been showing their football spirit. While the theme park won’t say whether its animals are Clemson Tigers or Crimson Tide fans, officials made it clear their critters enjoyed getting in on the act. So much so, the park couldn’t help by share some photos and videos of its creatures having a blast with football-themed enrichments.

While it’s unclear if the animals plan to watch Monday’s game, folks at the Tampa Sports Authority are expecting a people-packed Raymond James Stadium in time for the Jan. 9 kickoff at 8 p.m. Alabama is favored over Clemson by the people in Las Vegas in the rematch of last year’s National Championship Game. We’re guessing it’s a safe bet that Busch Gardens’ felines rooting for the underdog Tigers while its pachyderms are backing Big Al's Red Tide.
