The U.S. Open is the only competition to include beers from professional breweries and award-winning home breweries. This year more than 6,000 beers representing over 140 different styes were submitted to the competition.
The 11.0 percent ABV Maple Rum Huracan Imperial Stout is bold and aggressive like the Mayan god of wind, storm, and fire for which it is named. This rich and complex imperial stout has notes of dark chocolate, espresso, and dark pit fruit. The addition of blackstrap molasses adds layers of caramelized sugar and a subtle smokiness. A combination of British and American hops add balance to the deep malt complexity for an exceptionally smooth experience.
Fat Point’s Big Boca is a 5.1 percent ABV light ale brewed with a Pilsner base and a blend of Caramel and Vienna malts. It is smooth and easy to drink. It has a mild and pleasant hop character that subtly hits you up front and finishes with spicy, herbal, and citrus tones.
