Clearwater Cops Wait Tables for a Cause
Proceeds from Saturday's event benefit the Special Olympics.

Clearwater Police Officers protect, serve and wait on tables.
At least that was the case Saturday when officers, detectives and several civilian employees of the department turned out to the Red Robin at Westfield Countryside Mall to wait tables. While they were in it for the tips, the cash didn’t line their pockets. Instead, proceeds from the annual Tip-A-Cop event helped raise money for the Special Olympics, according to the department’s Facebook page.
During their stint at the busy eatery, law enforcement personnel served customers, bused tables and a few even did the dishes.

“The student-athletes who participate in the Special Olympics are heroes who inspire police officers,” said Chief Dan Slaughter, one of 17 from CPD who participated. “We are proud to be able to support the Special Olympics.”
