Clearwater Foodies Can Continue To Enjoy Extended Outdoor Dining
The city of Clearwater is extending the closure of a portion of Cleveland Street in downtown Clearwater through April 16.

CLEARWATER, FL — The city of Clearwater is extending the closure of a portion of Cleveland Street in downtown Clearwater to allow more socially distanced outdoor dining through April 16.
In May, the city closed the 400 and 500 blocks of Cleveland Street to allow restaurants that reopened following the coronavirus closures to expand their outdoor dining areas since indoor dining was limited.
The initiative proved so successful in generating business downtown that the city has opted to extend it to aid downtown businesses that are still attempting to recoup losses during the closures.

The continued closure will also allow residents and visitors to dine, walk and enjoy activities outside without dodging traffic downtown.
"We remain committed to helping our restaurants provide a safe, outdoor dining experience downtown. New restaurants have opened, there is live music in the evenings and local merchants have recently launched a new discount program,"said Clearwater Community Redevelopment Agency Director Amanda Thompson. "The city, the CRA, the Downtown Development Board and the Downtown Clearwater Merchant's Association have worked together to create a safe and fun atmosphere whether you are dining in or ordering takeout."
