Clearwater Police Recognize Crime Victims' Rights Week

Event provides information for adults and entertainment for children.

CLEARWATER, FL – To kick off National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, the Clearwater Police Department will join other law enforcement organizations for an event on Sunday. April 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Ross Norton Rec & Aquatic Complex, 1426 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave.

The event will feature resources for adults about the various social services available and receive information about legal issues and the rights of crime victims.

“Being a victim of a crime can have a permanent impact on a person, and we at the Clearwater Police Department have great empathy for victims of crime,” said Police Chief Dan Slaughter. “We want them to make sure they know about all of the different resources that are available to them.”

At the event, children can participate in a variety of arts and crafts or have their faces painted. Other activities include music and line dancing, self-defense classes, massages and crime-prevention sessions.

Other participating agencies include the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Largo Police Department, Pinellas Park Police Department, Kenneth City Police Department, Florida Coalition Against Human Trafficking, the Springtime Club, The Haven RCS, Suncoast Center, Inc. and the Pasco-Pinellas State Attorney’s Office Victim Advocate Unit.
