Clearwater Utilities: Help Us Test For Lead, Copper In Pipes

The department seeks utility customers who are willing to collect water samples to test for lead and copper from taps inside their homes.

CLEARWATER, FL — The Clearwater Public Utilities Department is seeking assistance from its utility customers who are willing to collect water samples to test for lead and copper from taps inside their homes. This testing is an important part of ensuring that our drinking water is safe and compatible with the plumbing of homes located in Clearwater.

It’s easy to participate. Utilities staff will deliver and pickup sample bottles at your home and instruct you in the proper way to collect samples. You will receive the testing results, and staff can answer any questions you may have. To participate in the sampling, you must live in a single-family home built prior to 1988 and not have a water softener.

If you wish to participate, contact Fred Hemerick at 727-562-4627, or email Fred.Hemerick@MyClearwater.com.
