Free Tax Identity Theft Prevention Sessions Hosted By Pinellas County
The sessions are being presented in recognition of Tax Identity Theft Awareness Week.

CLEARWATER, FL – As documents are being delivered across the country in preparation for this year’s April 18 tax deadline, scam artists are also starting to ramp up their schemes to defraud the public.
Pinellas County Consumer Protection has scheduled several events between Jan. 23-27 in recognition of Tax Identity Theft Awareness Week in an effort to ensure public safety and welfare.
The week is dedicated to educating the public on how to protect themselves from tax-related crimes. Tax identity theft occurs when a person uses stolen personal information, such as a Social Security number, to file a fraudulent tax return to obtain a refund.
