The large-scale planting project planned for Lake Chautauqua Park Saturday is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.

When crews went to survey the area for the project they noticed native plants starting to take root, said Krystal Epperson, a spokeswoman with the city.

"So they decided they wanted to hold off on doing anything now and reevaluate the area," Epperson said in an email. "They may reschedule a smaller planting, but at this point it is unknown."
