Leaking Valves on SR 580 Scheduled for Repair

Pinellas County is scheduling repairs for when there's less traffic.

CLEARWATER, FL – Pinellas County officials have been monitoring two leaking water main valves on State Road 580 and are planning for their repair in June.

The leaking valves are in the southbound lanes of McMullen Booth Road at the intersection of State Road 580 in Clearwater. According to Pinellas County, the leaking water is not presently creating a structural problem to the roadway.

Pinellas County Utilities currently plans to repair the two valves in separate operations. These repairs are scheduled to begin on Thursday, June 16 and Thursday, June 23.

The repairs will require closure of portions of the southbound lanes of McMullen Booth Road and the westbound lanes of State Road 580. Because of the traffic impact, Pinellas County delayed repair efforts after peak springtime traffic and school related traffic ended.

Roadway informational signs will be placed on both State Road 580 and McMullen Booth Road one week prior to the start of repair work. No Pinellas County Utilities water customers are anticipated to experience service disruptions during the repairs.
