PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — Pinellas County is conducting an online survey on the Pinellas Trail South Gap through June 19.

The Pinellas Trail South Gap is in the study phase and will extend about four miles from 126th Avenue North, west of 49th Street in Pinellas Park, to Haines Bayshore Road, east of U.S. 19 in Largo/Clearwater.

The county needs to make two decisions about the alignment that have multiple options. Both decisions involve choosing between whether to use the Duke Energy utility corridor, as in other areas of the county, or constructing the trail along streets/roadways. The county seeking input from residents in the area, commuters and trail users at large.

The South Gap is part of the planned Pinellas Trail Loop, a 75-mile multi-use path that will encircle the county and connect to city and regional trails. Completing the loop is part of a long-term county plan to provide safer cycling, recreation and connectivity options throughout the county.
