Police, Deputies Join Forces For Charity Softball Game
Proceeds from the April 30 game benefit two local officers battling cancer.

CLEARWATER, FL – Four area law enforcement agencies will team up for a common cause this weekend.
The Clearwater Police Department will host its 13th annual charity softball game on Saturday, April 30 at 3:30 p.m. at Bright House Networks Field, 601 Old Coachman Road. Clearwater Police officers will team up with Tarpon Springs officers against the Largo Police Department and the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.
Proceeds will benefit Sgt. Scott Brockew of the Tarpon Springs Police Department and Cpl. Jim Derner of the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office. Both men are battling cancer, and the money raised will go toward medical bills.

Tickets are $18, which includes admission to the game, a game between the Clearwater Threshers and Lakeland Flying Tigers, all-you-can-eat food from 5 to 7:30 p.m. and a fireworks show after the baseball game.
Chief Dan Slaughter of the Clearwater Police and Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco are expected to play in the game. Slaughter’s brother, Lt. Stephen Slaughter of the Largo Police Department, was helped by a previous charity softball game. Brockew and Derner will attempt to make the game.

“This is a great family event where people can come out and have a good time and help support the officers and their families,” Slaughter said.
