Speed Eating, Lego Launch and Christmas Without the White Stuff
Clearwater hosts a chicken-wing eating competition. If that's not to your taste, how about a Christmas in July Party?

1.) Speed Eating at It's Finest: Professional speed eater Joey Chestnut and 15 other competitors will gather at the Original Hooters in Clearwater on Thursday, at 7 p.m., for the 2013 Worldwide Wing-Eating Championship. The contest is to see how many chicken wings these pros can swallow in 10 minutes. Makes you hungry, eh? For details, click here.
2.) Get Your Lego On: The Lego Architecture Studio launches for both teens and adults with a passion for engineering and building. This gathering of minds and skills takes place Friday at 1 p.m., at 23654 US 19 N Clearwater.
3.) Pucker up to a glass of lemonade: Saturday is the official Lemonade For Livy's Hope For A Cure Day! Hailey & Livy will be hosting a lemonade stand at the Safety Harbor Montessori Academy on McMullen Booth Road in Clearwater starting at noon. Help support the campaign to help find a cure for Epilepsy! All money raised will be going to the Epilepsy Foundation.
4.) Christmas without the white stuff: Hmm. It's 91 degrees out and the middle of summer. Must be time to celebrate Christmas. That's right. Christmas in July is a one-of-a-kind event that showcases 50 vendors selling holiday-type stuff for those folks who love to get their shopping done early. There's also a Winter Snow Party and Holiday Photo Ops. Christmas in July is Saturday-Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Seminole Recreation Center, 9100 113th St.
5.) Calling all animal lovers! Mark your calendars for a special "Paw-ty" this Sunday at 1 p.m. to raise money for Friends of Strays. According to organizers: "In celebration of 35 years of service and the 90th birthday of Friends of Strays co-founder Jean Bomonti, the group is holding a paw-ty with appetizers, live music, door prizes, thrift shop specials and adoptable pets on site." The event takes places at the Friends of Strays Gift Shoppe, 3660 Gandy Blvd., Pinellas Park.
