South Florida Tops List Of Most Expensive Rentals In Southeast

South Florida not only topped the list of the most expensive rental ZIP Codes in the Southeast, it accounted for the entire top 10.

CORAL GABLES, FL — South Florida not only topped the list of the most expensive rental ZIP Codes in the Southeast, it accounted for the entire top 10. A new study released by RENTCafe.com examined the 50 most expensive areas for renters.

"As the rental season is reaching its peak, there’s no better time to talk about the most expensive and most affordable areas in the U.S. than now," according to the website. "We analyzed rents charged in more than 15 million apartments across the nation."

The study found that 26 out of the 50 priciest rental ZIP codes in the country are located in Manhattan.

Seven of the top 10 ZIP Codes in the southeast were in Coral Gables, Fort Lauderdale and Miami while three were in Miami Beach, Boca Raton and Delray Beach.

"This year’s most expensive ZIP code for renters in the Southeast is Fort Lauderdale’s 33301 with an average rent of $2,752, up 1.6 percent y-o-y," the website found.

Here are some other findings with respect to South Florida:

  • Around Las Olas Boulevard, ZIP code 33301 managed to surpass by $60 Coral Gables’ priciest area, ZIP code 33146.
  • The only area in the list that showed rent drops was ZIP code 33131 in downtown Miami came, which ranked fourth in the Southeast with an average rent of $2,340, down 2.8 percent since July 2017.
  • On the flip side, one of the areas with the steepest apartment prices in South Florida, ZIP code 33134 in Coral Gables, saw rents increase by 5.7 percent compared to this time last year.
