21-Year-Old Tree Trimmer Dies After Being Struck By Falling Tree

DUNEDIN, FL — A 21-year-old tree trimmer died after a tree fell on him while he was working in Dunedin.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, Jacob Schrader of Hillsdale Avenue in Largo was working at a home at 1489 Wetherington Way in Dunedin Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 3:31 p.m. when the accident occurred.

Schrader was employed by Tree Impressions of Florida LLC of Clearwater, which was hired by the homeowner to remove a tree. Schrader was standing at the base of the tree, using a chainsaw to cut the trunk. As the tree began to fall, Schrader walked into the path of the falling tree, which struck him in the head.

He was taken to Mease Dunedin Hospital where he died at 3:56 p.m.
