By the time the quilt was completed in March, the war in Ukraine had begun. The members felt their color choice (the colors of the Ukrainian flag) was God-inspired and wanted to use this quilt to assist the Ukrainian refugees. They decided to raffle off the quilt and send the money raised to the Episcopal Relief & Development?s Ukraine Crisis Response Fund.
They hoped to raise at least $500, and began selling raffle tickets in April to friends and family through Facebook and in-person sales at church, 639 Edgewater Drive, Dunedin.
