Glass Reading Room Opens at Dunedin Library
The "Nan and Tom Moffatt Reading Room" is a quiet place for solitary reading, studying and thinking, Phyllis Gorshe, library director, said.

Enter Dunedin Public Library, walk straight back and hang a right at the information desk.
There you will see a new, glass reading room that would likely make its namesake smile.
The "Nan and Tom Moffatt Reading Room," a Singapore Library-inspired, glass-enclosure, provides a quiet place for solitary reading, studying and thinking, Phyllis Gorshe, library director, said.
"A family friend of the Moffatt’s said Tom had a quiet reading room in his home where he enjoyed reading and listening to classical music," Gorshe said. "We have recreated that sanctuary here at the Dunedin Public Library."
The retro decor, photographs and pendant lights nods to the library's original City Hall location. And the 5/8-inch glass panels provide separation from the keyboard chatter and whispers at the nearby computer terminals and book aisles.
The Dunedin Public Library Foundation, Inc. funded the $34,000 project through a donation from the Nan and Tom Moffatt Charitable Trust.
