Restaurants & Bars

Lucky to have Lucky Lobster Co.

Kick Back & Dig In! Don't mind if we do!

(Tampa Bay Food Tours)

If you visit a restaurant every week for two years you get to know the quality of the food and service pretty well. Many times, my reviews are based on an experience of the first visit to the latest "shiny new penny" restaurant that has debuted. So today I am happy to shine the spotlight on our friends at Lucky Lobster Co.

Lucky Lobster LLc. has been a featured stop on the Dunedin Food Tour for two years. Through the busy tourist season to wet summer afternoons they always pull out all the stops.

LLc. consistently delivers fresh amazing food for the entire menu of options. Given the seafood moniker you would expect solid lobster dishes but not necessarily great pizza, wings and burgers etc... Lucky has always provided excellent non seafood options for tour guests who do not like seafood. In other words, bring the landlubbers but try the lobster if you are a fan!

The Dunedin Food Tour meets at Lucky Lobster each Saturday afternoon at 1:00. I am going to recommend the margarita. Or our guests can choose a great local craft beer or wine.

Fresh lobster is flown in 6 days a week and you will would be hard pressed to find a better lobster roll. The lobster roll is, by far, the biggest selling item on the menu. The New England lobster roll, below, served cold with mayo. A warm Connecticut lobster with butter is an alternative, and both are served with house made coleslaw and crispy fries.

Or try their delicious lobster BLT.

Maine lobster, applewood smoked bacon, roma tomato, lettuce and avocado.

Our go to is to treat the guests to the shrimp & lobster and smoked Gouda pizza. We know that our local tour guests return to LLc. to satisfy the craving they developed for this addictive pie.

Can't decide just one choice from the raw bar? Try the Raw Bar Sampler 3 Oysters, 3 Clams, 3 shrimp cocktail. Or enjoy the fresh shellfish prepared like the oysters Rockefeller.

Blue Point Oysters with spinach and Parmesan

Lucky Burger 8oz black angus, short rib, brisket blend.

The homemade lobster bisque and clam chowder are excellent.

Fresh crab cakes – only Maryland crab here at Lucky Lobster, and they are outstanding!

Save room for dessert or you will miss out on decadent coconut cream pie.

LLc. is located on the lovely Pinellas Trail.

Brian Lydon is the owner and brainchild behind Lucky Lobster. Brian created the Moran restaurant brand in New York City, where he had two restaurants. He later sold them and brought his long time General Manager, Tom Murphy, to Dunedin to open Lucky Lobster. Originally planned as a clam bar, things changed when Brian learned a rare blue lobster was caught off the Maine coast in 2016. (Only 1 in every 2 million lobster are blue, which is the result of a genetic deformity). Upon being caught, the lobster was released back into the water, and was quickly dubbed as the “lucky lobster” for having been spared. When Brian realized how catchy the name was, he knew this was going to be the name of his Dunedin restaurant. With this, in 2017 the clam bar evolved into a lobster focused restaurant with many other fresh seafood dishes.

Tom and his team are also known for transforming this dog-friendly restaurant at the holidays. Whether its skeleton dogs greeting guests at Halloween, or Christmas trees and lights, it always feels cozy at the Lucky Lobster. Live music on the outside patio on Friday and Saturday evenings make it even more festive.

You can find Tom at the Lucky Lobster just about every day, greeting customers, and making sure the locally sourced vegetables and fresh seafood bring guests back again and again.
