Here are the top three stories today in Dunedin:
- Dunedin Parks & Recreation is hosting a Late Night Scooter event for kids eight to 17 on July 29 between 7 and 10 p.m. at the MLK Jr. Recreation Center. Kids can sign up use scooters and compete for awesome prizes organized by Scooter instructor Nathan Wombaugh. The $10 fee includes admission and dinner. (Dunedin Patch)
- The Scottish American Society is hosting its first Scottish Heritage Day at the Scottish Cultural Center in Dunedin on August 27! The full-day event will have something for everyone. The day kicks off with Scottish Storytelling in English and Gaelic, coloring, fingerprinting, and songs for the young ones between 8:00 and 10:00 AM. Then Gaelic lessons, songs, and a special performance between 10 a.m. and noon. Lunch will be provided between noon and 1 p.m. and will include scotch eggs, sausage rolls and crisps. The event will wrap up with genealogy and Scottish history between 1 and 5 p.m. Tickets are $5 for kids and $15 for adults. (Scottish American Society via Facebook | Eventbrite)
- SPCA Tampa Bay is hosting Pet Palooza now through Sunday, July 17. During the event, it will be waiving adoption fees on all farm animals and small critters such as rabbits and guinea pigs. Help them free up some space in the shelter and bring home a pet the whole family will love! Note that the adoption office is closed on Monday, July 11, and Tuesday, July 12. (Fox 13)

- The city of Dunedin is looking for an administrative assistant to provide administrative and technical support to the department and other city staff to ensure effective and efficient operations. - Reboot is hosting a Sketch Wars event on Monday, July 11 where 16 artists will battle it out for a $500 prize.
