Sons Of The American Revolution Hold March meeting
Sons of the American Revolution Clearwater Chapter held its March meeting in person at Dunedin Golf Club.
DUNEDIN, FL - The Sons of the American Revolution Clearwater Chapter held an in person General Membership meeting on March 17 at the Dunedin Golf Club at noon.
The chapter normally holds its meetings every third Wednesday of each month, except for a summer break between June to August. However, the chapter and its Board of Governors only met during the past few months via Zoom due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the in-person meeting, social distancing guidelines were followed and masks were worn except when members were eating or giving a presentation. The chapter also provided a Zoom link so members could also view the meeting online.

President James Grayshaw gave a presentation about John Murray, the 4th Earl of Dunmore, also known as Lord Dunmore, a Scottish peer who became the last colonial governor of Virginia in 1771.
Lord Dunmore's oppressive actions, such as denying military supplies to local militias, caused many Virginians to support the cause of American independence.

Second Vice President Walter Arnold was presented the Lafayette Volunteer Service Award for entering the lineages of past and present Clearwater chapter members with a 100 percedent completion rate into the National Society Sons of the American Revolution Patriot Research System (PRS). The PRS is a public-accessible online database of approved member lineages to Revolutionary War patriots.
Past President Robert Anderson was given a Certificate of Appreciation for his presentation about the Saratoga campaign at the February Zoom meeting.
President and National Trustee of the Hawaii Society Sons of the American Revolution Robert Moore, who is also a member of the Clearwater chapter, was welcomed at the meeting.
Chaplain George Youstra led the chapter in a remembrance of Compatriot Robert Brotherton, who passed away on Feb. 18. Brotherton served as first vice president of the Clearwater chapter and president of the St. Petersburg chapter.
The Sons of the American Revolution is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to promoting patriotism and preserving American history. Members of the Sons of the American Revolution can trace their lineage to a patriot who supported the cause of American Independence.
