Sons Of The American Revolution Hold May Meeting

Sons of the American Revolution Clearwater Chapter hold May meeting at the Dunedin Golf Club

DUNEDIN, FL - The Sons of the American Revolution Clearwater Chapter held an in person General Membership meeting on May 19 at the Dunedin Golf Club at noon.

The chapter normally holds its meetings every third Wednesday of each month, except for a summer break between June to August. The next scheduled meeting will be on September 15, 2021.

The guest speaker was Lieutenant Colonel Seanegan Sculley, Professor of History at the United States Military Academy. Sculley is the author of The Contest For Liberty. The book examines leadership in the Continental Army, and won the 2019 Army Historical Foundation Distinguished Writing Award in Institutional History. Sculley gave his presentation about the material contained in his book via Zoom.

President James Grayshaw announced that the Clearwater Chapter won first prize in the Florida Society Sons of the American Revolution Earl Marlin publicity contest due to the efforts of Historian/Publicist Harry Fuller.

Robert Cundiff, Roger Sherman Award Silver Medal and Certificate of Appreciation for being Chairman of the History Fairs Committee.

Parks Honeywell, Certificate of Appreciation for being Chairman of the Geneaology Committee.

Robert Anderson, Certificate of Appreciation for being Clearwater Chapter President in 2020.

Robert Brotherton, posthumously awarded the Roger Sherman Award Silver Medal.

The chapter inducted new Compatriots Robert George, David George and Thomas Andrew. Chuck Robbins won the 50/50, Tom Hancher won the gift basket, and Cal Cundiff won the Dunedin Golf Club fish fry dinner certificate.

The Sons of the American Revolution is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to enhancing education, promoting patriotism and preserving American history. Members of the Sons of the American Revolution can trace their lineage to a patriot who supported the cause of American Independence.
