Sons Of The American Revolution Recognize Scholarship Recipient

Sons of the American Revolution Clearwater Chapter recognize scholarship recipient Aron Bryce

DUNEDIN, FL - The Sons of the American Revolution, Clearwater Chapter recognized the 2020-21 Sons of the American Revolution Scholarship recipient Aron Bryce during their general membership, in person meeting at the Dunedin Golf Club on April 21, 2021 at 12:00noon. The meeting was also on Zoom for members unable to attend in person.

The scholarship was established by the Sons of the American Revolution, Clearwater Chapter in 2009 at Saint Petersburg College for students studying history, political science or government. The scholarship is maintained by the Saint Petersburg College Foundation. Recipients must be Pinellas County residents and have graduated from a Pinellas County high school, have been home schooled or have earned a GED Certificate. In addition, recipients must have a minimum GPA of 2.5, have participated in community service events and be able to demonstrate financial need. Recipients must acknowledge the award in order to ensure continued Foundation scholarship eligibility. May 19, 2021 is the due date for the application for next years scholarship. Aron thanked the chapter and stated the scholarship was essential in achieving his goal of graduating by the end of this semester. Saint Petersburg College Foundation Development Officer Jody Craig also attended and gave the chapter an overview of the foundation and scholarship. Certificates of Appreciation were presented to both of them.

Vincent Luisi, the Executive Director of the Dunedin History Museum, informed the chapter of a Revolutionary War Campsite Reenactment that will be held at the museum on April 24th from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Several members said they will attend and have membership information available. The museum will also run the Dunedin National Treasure Hunt where participants will search for nine clues through Dunedin. The winning treasure hunter will be given a key to open a treasure box live on Facebook. For more information, go to www.dunedinmuseum.org

The chapter inducted new Compatriots Dillon Eversole and Glenn Humphreys. Soon to be member Robert George won the 50/50, Glenn Humphreys won the gift basket, and Tom Hancher won the Dunedin Golf Club fish fry dinner certificate.

The Sons of the American Revolution is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to enhancing education, promoting patriotism and preserving American history. Members of the Sons of the American Revolution can trace their lineage to a patriot who supported the cause of American Independence.
